★ Streaming AI replies from Laravel to React (opens on the source site)
A couple of posts back I walked through the agent and tools we built on top of the Laravel AI SDK for There There, the helpdesk we're putting together at Spatie. I ended that post on a small cliffhanger. We hand the agent off to a streaming service that turns the SDK's response stream into events the frontend can consume. That's this post. A quick reminder on our angle. After two decades of running our own customer support, we wanted a helpdesk where AI makes support agents faster, not one that tries to replace them. The human reads, thinks, and directs. The model drafts and retrieves in real…

PubNub: ·
Use streaming when stale state can change the next action. Use batch when the work is deterministic and replayable. Most production agentic workflows need both.

Case Study: Modernizing a High-Traffic Streaming Platform with the AHA Stack (HTMX & Alpine.js) (opens on the source site)
Our client, a leading company in the streaming industry, acquired a highly successful indie website with over 50 million unique visitors per month. The site had been built by a single developer who prioritized functionality over maintainability. While the features were mostly bug-free, the design was outdated, and the code relied on aging technologies. The […] The post Case Study: Modernizing a High-Traffic Streaming Platform with the AHA Stack (HTMX & Alpine.js) appeared first on RisingStack Engineering.
Building a streaming DeepSeek-R1 app on Azure (opens on the source site)
Update: The approach has slightly changed (in a good way!). Read this Microsoft Learn article for an updated guide. This year, we're seeing the rise in "reasoning models", models that include an additional thinking process in order to generate their answer. Reasoning models can produce more accurate answers and can answer more complex questions. Some of those models, like o1 and o3, do the reasoning behind the scenes and only report how many tokens it took them (quite a few!). The DeepSeek-R1 model is interesting because it reveals its reasoning process along the way. When we can see the…
"Streaming vs. Batch" Is a Wrong Dichotomy, and I Think It's Confusing (opens on the source site)
Often times, "Stream vs. Batch" is discussed as if it’s one or the other, but to me this does not make that much sense really.

Introduction: Welcome to the final episode of the JSON for Engineers series! In this concluding session, we tackle the challenges of working with large JSON datasets, exploring efficient strategies for streaming data while minimizing memory usage. These techniques enable developers to handle massive payloads without overburdening system resources, ensuring scalable and cost-effective applications. JSON Streaming: Using JSON Lines for memory-efficient data transmission. HTTP Chunked Encoding: Leveraging HTTP/1.1 chunked transfer encoding for streaming large datasets. Practical Error Handling:…
Home streaming my games in 4K (opens on the source site)
I have two 4K TVs at home, one in the bedroom and one in my living room. Both have consoles attached. One has a PS4 Pro and one has a Nintendo Switch and both are great. However, I also have a gaming PC in my office, which is quite powerful compared to any home console Mine is equipped with a RTX 2080 TI GPU, and a 9900K processor, so it can play pretty much any new game at 4K with a solid 60 fps on high settings.
