Trending uses recent filtered link clicks on articles published in the last 24 hours, with up to two picks per company in each group of five when alternatives are available. Card numbers show cumulative clicks since measurement began. Zero-interest articles appear by recency and source variety; clicks do not measure completed reading.
Table of Contents This is part of a tutorial series on the CKKS homomorphic encryption scheme. In the last article, we introduced symmetric and public-key encryption and decryption routines, and implemented modular polynomial arithmetic (using NTTs as a black box). This article covers the addition and multiplication operations performed on ciphertexts (without relinearization). Again, if you already know about CKKS, we are still avoiding the RNS form of the scheme and using a 64-bit modulus $Q$, which means that we’re momentarily ignoring cryptographic security.
Verify your project setup documentation using a two-layer testing workflow: automate commands in a clean Docker container to catch mechanical setup errors, then observe a real user think aloud to identify missing prerequisites and unclear steps. Add bounded retries, execution timeouts, and a best-effort budget guard to your TypeScript AI agent tool-calling loop to stop runaway LLM API loops and token overruns. Continue reading AI Agent Tool Calling in TypeScript: Guardrails Against Runaway Loops on SitePoint.
This is not so much a full post as it is an advertisement. I’ve been working with Claude and GPT 6 Astra to conduct a survey of historical cryptanalysis results, in an effort to determine how many human-hours have been spent attempting to cryptanalyze the problems we use in public-key encryption schemes. This is work … Continue reading New website: estimating human cryptanalytic work →
Functional programming is a programming paradigm in which the primary method of computation is the evaluation of functions. But how does Python support functional programming? In this tutorial, you’ll learn: What the functional programming paradigm entails What it means to say that functions are first-class citizens in Python How to define anonymous functions with the lambda keyword How to implement functional code using map(), filter(), and reduce() Functional programming typically plays a minor role in Python code, but it’s still good to be familiar with it. You’ll probably encounter it…

If you’re new to programming and considering Python, knowing what you can do with it can be motivating. Python is used in many fields, including web and desktop development, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, robotics, and more. In this tutorial, you’ll explore tools, libraries, and project ideas that showcase Python’s versatility across these areas. By the end, you’ll know where to go next with your Python skills. By the end of this tutorial, you’ll understand that: You can build web applications with frameworks like Django, Flask, and FastAPI, each suitable for…
In this quiz, you’ll test your understanding of Continuous Integration With Python: An Introduction. By working through this quiz, you’ll revisit why teams integrate small changes often, what it means to break the build, and how linting, unit tests, containers, and deployable artifacts fit together in a continuous integration pipeline. These are the practices that let a team ship dozens of changes a day without anyone waiting on someone else’s broken code. A clear walkthrough of Laravel's Context feature and how it lets execution-scoped information travel through your app. It also explains why that matters for logging, queued jobs, and keeping trace data available without threading it through every method call. Read more
Quoting a tilde in PATH suppresses expansion, creating a literal '~' entry that resolves relative to the current working directory. If an attacker can write to that relative path and PATH search order reaches it, the shell executes the foreign binary. Here is how to audit your shell configuration and replace literal tildes with $HOME. Continue reading Tilde in PATH Security: How Quoted Tildes Cause Relative Execution on SitePoint.
Understand why justify-content: space-between fails on wide screens, how flex-grow consumes distributable free space, and how to restore alignment using proper flex item sizing. Continue reading Flexbox space-between Not Working on Wide Screens? How to Fix It on SitePoint.
I recovered another program I wrote in 1995: ELPDS, or Enhanced Logical & Physical Drive Status. Run ELPDS C: and it reports physical disk geometry, partition entries, FAT boot-sector details, and free space. It doesn’t change anything on the disk. My help says it was for checking whether a partition existed and was formatted. I think I was just trying to learn about the underlying partition mechanics. I didn’t write all of it. The help credits “Mr. Schaeffer” for a “huge part of FIPS code.” That was Arno Schaefer, whose name I misspelled. FIPS could split a FAT partition without deleting its…
Learn how to use agentic AI throughout the iOS development process. You’ll set up Claude Agent in Xcode and configure Cursor, then use both tools to add features to an existing SwiftUI app. You’ll also connect an external AI tool to Xcode through its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and use an AI agent to interact with an app running in the simulator.
Use ordered SQL migrations on client and server, validate schema history and handle skipped releases. Understand baselines, repeatable scripts and transactional limits.
Principal Designer Vitalii Khomenko argues the real bottleneck in AI-accelerated product teams isn't engineering anymore, it's the Figma-to-code handoff, and here's his fix. Continue reading The Design Workflow Is Broken. Here Is How Vitalii Khomenko Thinks It Should Be Fixed on SitePoint.
While searching for my ancestors, I had to access data from many different websites. I noticed there were different levels of protection against automated access depending on the site. In this post, I’ll list them and mention countermeasures you can take to bypass them anyway. Disclaimer As a private person using the data for my own personal use, I have no qualms about bypassing the protection. It can be considered fair use.
It's been over a year since I mostly broke up with GitHub. In that year, I've been running my own public Forgejo instance for my personal projects. It's important to stress the public part, as most of what I'm going to discuss is directly correlated to that. This isn't a post to critique Forgejo vs. alternatives, either. I found Forgejo to be great. My only gripe is that I very much prefer GitLab runners and AWS CodeBuild to GitHub Actions, which Forgejo Actions is modeled after. With regard to GitLab, I am in the process of moving my projects over there. Why not Codeberg? Aside from my need…
In the article about Standard Library hardening, we looked at checks for invalid Standard Library container access and other broken preconditions. I mentioned that those requirements are expressed in terms of “contracts”. But what about our code? In this post, we’ll explore contracts from C++26. We’ll start with a simple cassert, move the requirement into the function itself, and see how to check results. We’ll also look at declarations and definitions, compiler options, and a few details that can surprise you. Starting with an Assertion Let’s start with a small example: A header file first:…
