  • ★ Laravel AI SDK in practice: the agent behind There There (opens on the source site)

    Freek Van der Herten ·

Over the past few weeks I've posted a couple of times about There There, the helpdesk we're building at Spatie. After two decades of running our own customer support, we decided to stop compromising on tools and build the one we actually want to use. A lot of the fun is on the AI side. We're not using it to replace support agents, we're using it to make them faster. The human reads the ticket, thinks, and clicks a button. The model pulls up relevant history, drafts a reply, tags the ticket, closes a duplicate. There There is in private beta right now, and you can apply for early access at…

  • ★ Detecting spam and auto-replies with Jev and the Laravel AI SDK (opens on the source site)

    Freek Van der Herten ·

Yesterday Taylor announced that Jev support landed in the 1.x branch of the Laravel AI SDK. We started using it that same day for spam detection in There There. Let's take a look at what Jev is and how you can use it. How Jev is different from an LLM Jev is made by TypeSafe. An LLM generates text: you ask it something, it writes an answer, and if you want structured data back you have to ask for it and hope. Jev doesn't generate anything. You give it some state and a question, and it gives you back a number. TypeSafe calls these System One models. They read natural language like an LLM does,…

  • AI SDK harness layer now supports native subscription authentication (opens on the source site)

    Vercel ·

The AI SDK harness layer now supports authenticating harnesses through their native subscriptions, where the underlying harness supports them. The harness layer runs different coding agents through the same HarnessAgent interface, so you can switch agents without changing your application code. No code changes or new settings are required. The direct authentication mode uses explicit provider environment credentials when they are present, and otherwise a native subscription found on the host. The default auto mode does the same when no AI Gateway credentials are set. The ai-gateway mode never…

  • Run Claude Managed Agents with Chat SDK (opens on the source site)

    Vercel ·

You can now run Claude Managed Agents with Chat SDK. Claude Managed Agents handles the agent loop server-side, including the model, tools, session state, and sandboxed web research. That means you can ship a Slack research bot built on Claude Managed Agents and Chat SDK, with one persistent session per thread and streamed briefs with sources. Copy link to headingWhat you get Token-by-token streaming: Replies render as the model writes them, over a single streamed response. Live activity feed: Tool calls and model requests are available during the turn, so you can surface a trace in the chat.…

In this post, we’ll pick up a small Angular v22 project and finish it. We’ll make the following changes: Add authentication using the new provideOktaAuth provider function Protect a route with the SDK’s functional guard Load each user’s groups with rxResource and a signal input…

  • Use Apache HTTP Client on Android SDK 23 (opens on the source site)

    Marc Plano-Lesay ·

With the Android M SDK (API 23), Google removed the Apache HTTP Client library. It was deprecated since API 22, and Google recommended to use HttpURLConnection instead since API 9. While the classes are still bundled in Android 6 ROMs, it won't be long until we see them completely go away. Some applications are still relying on this library, and need to be updated to use the SDK 23, without having time/budget/whatever required to switch from HTTP Client. While I strongly recommend you to still take time to move to something else (there are many high-level libraries, like OkHttp or Ion, or you…
