Vercel Sandbox creation now returns a ready sandbox (opens on the source site)
Vercel ·
A new Vercel Sandbox is now ready to run commands and read or write files when creation completes. Sandbox.create() now resolves only after snapshot restoration completes, so the first command or file operation no longer waits for it. Startup errors also reject Sandbox.create() instead of surfacing during that operation. Snapshot restoration time now counts toward creation instead of the first operation. Creation is about 50 ms longer at p50, with a larger increase possible for uncached snapshots. The total time through the first operation remains the same. This change applies automatically,…
Five essential practices for AI-ready data modernization (opens on the source site)
It’s no secret that a large proportion of AI projects stall at the proof of concept (POC) stage. Estimates of the AI abandonment rate vary, with some research indicating that almost 90% of AI pilots fail to make it into production. What’s more, the problem appears to be getting worse, not better: research by S&P Global found that the percentage of organizations shelving the majority of their AI initiatives before production jumped from 17% in 2024 to 42% in 2025. The pilot purgatory trap emerges for a variety of reasons: customer and employee resistance, unreliable outputs, unclear ROI and a…

AI-ready data: The anthology - Part 2 of 2 (opens on the source site)
In part 1 of the AIRD anthology, our focus was on foundational prerequisites for an AI-ready platform. This included ensuring the data fueling the platform was high quality and governed securely so it could be trusted; using metadata and cataloguing to improve efficiency across a data-first organization; and establishing a semantic business layer so AI systems could identify and use the right dataset for each task. Once a solid foundation is built, more sophisticated components and topics can be introduced. This is the overarching focus of Part two. A to B accessibility As this series…

AI-ready data: The anthology - Part 1 of 2 (opens on the source site)
Excitement around data engineering topics is typically limited to data engineers, and their data engineering-adjacent peers. Terms such as “tagging”, “metadata” and “pipelines” are often used without much explanation, which can create gaps in understanding across technical and non-technical teams. That gap can be detrimental to an organization’s technical maturity, and at the very least increases frustration levels across technical and non-technical employees. This tension often bubbles up to funding decisions, when those holding the purse strings are trying to determine which initiatives to…

AI-ready data, why and how? (opens on the source site)
In short: AI needs data that explains itself, with precision, structure, an awareness of its own validity and a machine-readable format. That is the bar "AI-ready" has to clear. A new scope for data modernization We see a lack of strategic focus on getting data AI ready in most enterprises, though their data modernization programs focus on the right things: accessibility, ownership, quality, lineage, governance. These are the foundations that make data accessible, trustworthy and managed. For analytics, that was enough, a human analyst supplied the meaning. For agents, it isn't. So the scope…

Patient records, waiting lists, operating theatre schedules, discharge plans: all this critical information was stored in separate systems that NHS staff couldn’t see, couldn’t share,…
Is your company ready for AI? (opens on the source site)
As a consultancy, we are expected to have strong and well-formed opinions on all new technologies arriving on the market. So we often get asked, “What should I be doing with AI? Should I be using it? What should I do and what should I avoid?” And the answer is, of course, “It depends”! There are so many factors behind whether or not AI solutions are right for a business. So, a good place to start before trying to answer this question is to be goals-oriented; to know where you are, as a business, and to know where you want to go. Then you can figure out whether any form of AI can be…
