Frontier models found the vulnerabilities. Only the attacker found the chains. (opens on the source site)
Snyk ·
Static analysis found the flaws, but only live attack testing proved how they could be chained into breaches. A comparison of Evo COS, Claude Security, and Claude Code Security.
Demoting i686 Windows targets to std-only (opens on the source site)
Rust ·
With Rust 1.100.0, the following changes to 32-bit Windows targets will happen: i686-pc-windows-msvc Tier 1 with host tools target will be demoted to Tier 1 without host tools. i686-pc-windows-gnu Tier 2 with host tools target will be demoted to Tier 2 without host tools. Builds of the standard library will continue to be distributed, but host tools such as the compiler will be no longer available. i686-pc-windows-msvc as a Tier 1 target still undergoes CI testing. To build 32-bit Windows binaries, cross-compiling from a still-supported host toolchain (such as a 64-bit Windows ones) will be…
86% of brands think their AI works. Only 51% of customers agree. (opens on the source site)

Brands think they’ve designed AI that solves all their customers problems, but almost half of customers disagree. Here’s what’s happening.

Pandas dropna with thresh: Drop only rows with too many NaN values (opens on the source site)
You can remove NaN from a Python Pandas data frame with dropna, but be careful: It removes rows with even one NaN, which can be overkill. Pass “thresh” to allow […] The post Pandas dropna with thresh: Drop only rows with too many NaN values appeared first on LernerPython.
What a Write-Only Architecture Bought Our Health App (opens on the source site)
If you’ve built software in healthcare, you know the usual arrangement. The firm signs a business associate agreement, the developers get PHI access, and everyone agrees to be careful. Careful means scrubbing logs, keeping patient data out of screenshots and tickets, and trusting that nobody pastes the wrong thing into the wrong window. The health […] The post What a Write-Only Architecture Bought Our Health App appeared first on Atomic Spin.

Rerun Only the Jobs That Failed (opens on the source site)
Your pipeline fails on one job, and until now you had to rebuild the entire block to recover. Not anymore. Semaphore now reruns only the jobs that actually failed, so you get feedback faster and pay less to get it. Your AI is only as responsible as you are (opens on the source site)
Recorded at Microsoft Build, Ryan welcomes Sarah Bird, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer for Responsible AI, about how we can build and use AI responsibly with the NIST approach, why most irresponsible AI comes from experimentation without thought of impact, and how Microsoft is researching thoughtful human/AI workflow design to reduce unnecessary escalation.

Dangerous Technology For Americans Only (opens on the source site)
There is a bit of schadenfreude on Twitter right now about Anthropic being hit by the US government’s export control directive to suspend access to Fable and Mythos. Anthropic and their leadership have spent a lot of time and effort describing its own technology as dangerous and in need of strict controls and regulation. Now that the US government appears to have taken that framing seriously and told them to turn it off for foreign nationals I can see why people are making fun of that situation. I understand the reaction, but I urge you to not entertain it for too long because it is a giant…

2026 has been the most pivotal year in my career… and it's only March (opens on the source site)
In February I left my employer after nearly two decades of service. In the moment I was optimistic, yet unsure I made the right choice. Dust settled, I’m now absolutely sure I chose correctly. I’m happier and better for it. There were multiple factors, but it’s not mere chance it coincides with these early months of the automation of software engineering. I left an employer that is years behind adopting AI to one actively supporting and encouraging it. As of March, in my professional capacity I no longer write code myself. My current situation was unimaginable to me only a year ago. Like it…
CSS only counter component (opens on the source site)
Before we start, here is a demo of the counter (you can also check it out on CodePen): 12345678910-+ This idea started with a space invaders generator I recently made. If you look at the randomize button, you'll notice the number on the dice changes from five to three when you hover over it. A friend then said, "It would be really cool if you showed a different number every time you hover." That got me thinking, could I make this using CSS only? It's trivial to do in a few lines of JavaScript, which I'll probably do at some point. Before diving deeper, I decided to simplify the problem by…
CSS-only glitch effect (opens on the source site)
Let me show you how I created a CSS-only image glitch effect. I was working on the robot poet and wanted my robotic bard to glitch - because it felt fitting given the quality of poetry it generates. Here's the final result: The effect involves quite a bit of HTML and CSS but no JavaScript. I did use JavaScript to generate the HTML and CSS, but it is not used in the final version. To be clear, there's nothing wrong with using JavaScript for this kind of thing. I just saw it as a fun challenge to make a pure CSS version. The idea # In the words of Daft Punk: Slice It Move It Hue-Rotate It We'll…
Sep 29 Incident Update: Read-Only Repls (opens on the source site)
Replit ·
On Sep 29, we had a period of about 2.5h from 14:00 to 16:30 (Pacific Time), in which an incomplete build was pushed to our infrastructure that handles storing Repl data. This caused Repls opened during that time window to become read-only or stop working. Any Repl not opened during that timeframe was not affected. We have addressed the root cause, recovered 98% of the affected Repls, and continue to work on recovering the remaining 2%. We understand that your data not being available is unacceptable for both you and your users. This post summarizes what happened and what we're doing to…
Loading Polyfills Only When Needed (opens on the source site)
New JavaScript and HTML features are being introduced all the time that make our lives as developers easier. In many cases, these new features are so helpful we choose to use them on production websites before they’re fully implemented in all browsers. To not break the experience for users on older browsers, we of course include polyfills for any not-fully-supported features. The problem with this approach is it prioritizes developer convenience over user experience, and it unnecessarily penalizes users on modern browsers by forcing them to download a lot of code they don’t need. The solution…
