Red Hat edge platforms: Choosing the right one for your use case (opens on the source site)
Red Hat ·
Choosing the right platform for an edge deployment is one of the most consequential decisions an organization makes—and one of the most confusing. The options range from a single-board computer running a handful of containers to a full Kubernetes cluster with high availability, software-defined storage, and centralized management. Pick too small, and you hit a wall when requirements grow. The post Red Hat edge platforms: Choosing the right one for your use case appeared first on Red Hat Developer.

Most MCP servers don't need to exist. Your case might be an exception. (opens on the source site)
An MCP server is a product interface for the age of agents, not an AI feature itself. This post presents a framework for deciding between direct API calls, CLI, Skills, and MCP, detailing the architectural signals, the hidden costs, and the failure modes you should know about before embarking on an MCP quest.
NVD in the AI Era: The Case for Multi-Source Vulnerability Intelligence (opens on the source site)
Snyk ·
NIST’s shift to risk-based enrichment makes one thing clear: modern security teams need more than a single public source. In the AI era, trusted vulnerability intelligence depends on multiple signals, human validation, and clear context.
Unifying Internal APIs: A Different Use Case for GraphQL Gateways (opens on the source site)
Trivago ·
Most GraphQL Gateway discussions focus on public-facing APIs and multi-client architectures. This article explores a different axis—using GraphQL Mesh to stitch internal services into a unified gateway powering admin tooling. We share implementation details, honest challenges from six years in production, and a forward-looking perspective on how AI agents could leverage the unified graph.

Case Study: Modernizing a High-Traffic Streaming Platform with the AHA Stack (HTMX & Alpine.js) (opens on the source site)
Our client, a leading company in the streaming industry, acquired a highly successful indie website with over 50 million unique visitors per month. The site had been built by a single developer who prioritized functionality over maintainability. While the features were mostly bug-free, the design was outdated, and the code relied on aging technologies. The […] The post Case Study: Modernizing a High-Traffic Streaming Platform with the AHA Stack (HTMX & Alpine.js) appeared first on RisingStack Engineering.
Context engineering case studies: Etsy-specific question answering (opens on the source site)
Etsy ·
This post investigates the benefits and limitations of prompt engineering in two instances of AI-assisted onboarding relying on large language model (LLM) technology. Of particular interest is how truthful (and therefore reliable) LLM-generated answers turn out to be in the context of Etsy-specific question answering. Among other insights, we find that asking the LLM to identify specific source snippets is a good way to flag potential hallucinations. Over the past few years, pre-trained large-scale/foundation language models such as OpenAI’s o-series [1] and Google’s Gemini family [2] have…

Case study: low-frequency tinnitus with distortion (opens on the source site)
A periodically appearing low-frequency tinnitus is one of my least favorite signals. A doctor's visit only resulted in a WONTFIX and the audiogram shown here, which didn't really answer any questions. Also, the sound comes with some pecularities that warrant a deeper analysis. So it shall become one of my absorptions. The possible subtype (Vielsmeier et al. 2012) of tinnitus I have, related to a joint problem, is apparently even more poorly understood than the classical case (Vielsmeier et al. 2011), which of course means I'm free to make wild speculations! And maybe throw a supporting…
Accelerating AWS Native Development with LocalStack & Docker: A Real-World Case Study (opens on the source site)
In this blog post, I’ll walk through how using LocalStack with Docker and Docker Compose helped us speed up development and testing, making the entire process more efficient and seamless. When building modern cloud-native applications on AWS, having a reliable and cost-effective approach to development and testing is essential. For this project, we utilised LocalStack, a platform that simulates AWS services locally. This enabled us to work more efficiently, speed up development, cut down on costs, and quickly test integrations without constantly interacting with the actual AWS cloud.…
Making the case for the WebView (opens on the source site)
Learning to embrace a hybrid approach for mobile app development: Native apps are best! Like the rest of the native mobile app development community, I typically agree with the notion that “native is best” when it comes to mobile apps. After all, these are the technologies we spend tens of hours every week utilising, and there is a passion for user experience that I feel is required in order to happily dive into the deep-end-specialisation of Google or Apple’s tooling. An example of what is possible with Google’s Material Design for Android:…
A case for password hashing with delegation (opens on the source site)
Latacora ·
When people talk about PBKDFs (Password Based Key Derivation Functions), this is usually either in the context of secure password storage, or in the context of how to derive cryptographic keys from potentially low-entropy passwords. The Password Hashing Competition (PHC, 2013-2015) was an open competition to derive new password hashing algorithms, resulting in Argon2 hash as its winner. Apart from achieving general hash security, many of the candidates focused on achieving resistance to parallel attacks on available hardware such as GPUs.
Chat log exhibits from Twitter v. Musk case (opens on the source site)
Dan Luu ·
This is a scan/OCR of Exhibits H and J from the Twitter v. Musk case, with some of the conversations de-interleaved and of course converted from a fuzzy scan to text to make for easier reading. I did this so that I could easily read this and, after reading it, I've found that most accountings of what was said are, in one way or another, fairly misleading. Since the texts aren't all that long, if you're interested in what they said, I would recommended that you just read the texts in their entirety (to the extent they're available — the texts make it clear that some parts of conversations are…
